Mirebalais Education Project rocks with the Ironwood
Want a different way to kick off your Stampede week?
Join Calgary's Mirebalais Education Project Society at the Ironwood Grill on July 10th, 2010 in Inglewood for the Big Band Brunch. An afternoon of great food, great music and all in support of a new hospital being built in Haiti.
The Mirebalais Education Project Society has been working in Mirebalais, Haiti developing education, feeding children and sending over 8,000 French language books to a local library, but after the Haiti earthquake earlier this year the Project realized an immediate need for improved health care in the region and began supporting another Haitian development organization, Partners in Health.
Partners in Health began its work in Haiti in 1985 and the success of their community based health care model has received them recognition from around the world. They are now one of the largest nongovernmental health care providers in Haiti, servicing 12 communities with hospitals and thousands of specially trained community health workers. In 2008 over 2.6 million visits were recorded at the various clinical sites and the project has created over 4,000 jobs in Haiti's medical field, almost all of which are held by Haitian's.
So, get your Yee-haw on in support of Haiti. All the money raised from the afternoon will be donated directly to Partners in Health. Don't miss your chance to win some great prizes including, 2 pairs of WestJet tickets and an Apple I-Phone.
