The Camera Initiative was a 12 month pilot project launched by Vistek in collaboration with the Calgary Fig Tree Foundation.  This project collected and distributed new and used digital cameras to three Calgary based development organizations working in Africa. The cameras were placed in the hands of project participants in Africa to learn a skill, create economic activities, and photograph their world as they see it.

The As We See It Photo Exhibit highlights images from the pilot, and consists of two components. F
irst, are images taken by the pilot participants in this project. For many people, this was the first time they had ever used a camera. Second, the exhibit features images taken by Calgary-based international development workers highlighting exactly why they do the work they do.

This exhibit is part of the larger Calgary Banff Photography Festival - Exposure 2010 and will be on display from February 5th to 28th from 9am to 9pm daily at West Canadian Graphics main lobby 1601 - 9th Ave SE in Inglewood.  To find out more information please visit www.exposure2010.ca and the Calgary Fig Tree Foundation Camera Initiative.
